Classic Singles - Dinner and/or A Movie - January 28
January 01, 2012

Dinner and/or a Movie (weather permitting)

Saturday January 28 at 8:00pm  Cost $7.00  (Seniors $2.00)

La Rafle (The Roundup)  In French with English subtitles

TheatreN - Wilmington, DE   www.theatreN.org

With a meticulously constructed script based on extensive research and first-hand accounts, writer/director Rose Bosch brings to the screen one of the most moving dramas of the year.  Powered by fluid direction and a string of stars, La Rafle became a big box-office hit in France in the first half of 2010.  In picturesque Montmarte, three children wearing a yellow star play in the streets, oblivious to the darkness spreading over Nazi-occupied France. Their parents do not seem too concerned either, somehow putting their trust in the Vichy Government. But beyond this view, much is going on. Hitler demands that the French government round up its Jews and put them on trains for the extermination camps in the East. The collaborators start to put the plan into effect and within a short time, 13,000 of Paris’s Jews, among them 4,000 children, will be rounded up and sent on a road with no return. The fateful date: July 16th, 1942, 68 years ago.

Fresh Hope for Single MOMS
January 01, 2012

BE ENCOURAGED - there is great hope in friendship, support and solid Biblical wisdom for you as a woman in the season of single parenting.

Who of us doesn’t need hope?  Especially single mothers who face so many responsibilities…hats off to you, as you serve as the household trapeze artist. Single moms cook, clean, pack lunches, pay bills, apply Band-Aids to little boo boos, juggle the finances, parenting, scheduling and household management -- and find time between the unending tasks to give hugs on a regular basis.

Know that you are not alone. You can do more than you ever hoped or imagined. You can find all the love and patience you need in raising your children alone. You can accomplish the single motherhood role with grace and charm, and even have an ample supply left over in order to emerge into a healthy adult woman. God promises us all we need, out of his great affection for us, He declares:  “You can do all things through My Son, Jesus Christ, who gives YOU strength…” Philippians 4:13

I began a good work in you.  I will finish it. Philippians 1:6  -  All things are possible. Luke 18:37  -  I will make a new road in the desert. (so don’t look back) Isaiah 43:19  -  I will not leave you comfortless. John 14:18   -  I will supply your needs. Philippians 4:19  -  My truth shall set you free. 1 Corinthians 1:30

NEW! don't miss...

SINGLE MOMS: Women’s Small Group—Tuesday evenings. beginning September, 20, 2011.

  • WHAT:    a small group just for single moms
  • WHERE:  Women’s Bible Study
  • WHEN:    Tuesday evenings, 7-9pm, except for the last Tuesday of each month
  • HOW:      small group meets during Ground Zero (Middle School Youth Group); elementary childcare provided at no cost

Single & Parenting, with material developed by a number of authors, and hosted by Angela Thomas, looks at every aspect of parenting from a Biblical perspective, focusing on the unique needs of single parents. Drawing on teaching from several experts, this study looks at real world questions single parents face every day:

  • Con I be successful as a single parent?
  • How do I maintain order and structure in my home?
  • My kids don’t obey: what do I do?
  • How do I deal with the financial pressures I am facing?
  • Why does God allow me to suffer this way?
  • Does God care about the problems I have as a single parent?
  • Will my children succeed as adults?

Scripture is the basis for the answers explored in this dynamic study that will speak to you right where you are.

FRIENDSHIP

It is our desire that friendship, support, trust and accountability be available to every woman ... and that in the season of single parenting, spiritual friendships are essential. ALL single moms are welcome to come as they are, when they are able.

“True spiritual friends exhibit significant intentionality in their relationship. Intentional friendships help us attune our souls to the presence and activity of God, as well as enable us toweather those times of hardship and tragedy when God seems far away.”  - Sarah Zacharias Davis, The Friends We Keep
