Do You Know Jesus Christ personally?
You've probably heard of His miracles - how He healed people, fed the 5,000 with five loaves of bread and two fish, walked on water, and calmed the storm just by telling the wind and the waves to "Be still." But did you know that Jesus died and rose again, so that you could have a relationship with Him, forever? From the very beginning, the Bible tells the story of God's great love for people, and how He created us to be in relationship with Him (Genesis 1:27). Out of God's love for us, He gave us the ability to choose. When Adam & Eve chose to disobey God, sin entered the world, and the original and beautiful relationship God had created with humans was broken. Since God is holy, He cannot be in the presence of sin. And this was the problem - our sin was going to be a permanent barrier in our relationship with God. The punishment for sin was death (Romans 6:23). The Bible tells us that no one is without sin (Romans 3:23), and we cannot earn our way into a restored relationship with God. So God, from the beginning, created a way for us to be in relationship with Him again - but there was a great cost. God loves us so much, that He chose to send His Only Son, Jesus Christ, to bear all of our sins on the cross (John 3:16). Jesus' death paid a price that we could not pay, so that we could have a relationship with God and be with Him forever. Jesus is the only way to a relationship with God (John 14:6).
This relationship with God that pays for our sins is a free gift, and an incredible one! God invites you into a relationship where He will always be with you, if believe in His Son and choose to follow Him. The Bible says that "If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved" (Romans 10:9-10). By God's grace, He provided a way to save us from our sins through Jesus (Ephesians 2:8-9), by acknowledging that Jesus Christ died for your sins, and asking His forgiveness. Accept His great love for you, and ask Him to be your God.
Here’s a suggested prayer to start a relationship with Jesus, as your Lord and Savior:
"Dear God, I have sinned against You, and ask You to forgive me. I believe in Your Son Jesus, who died for my sins and was raised to life. I want to trust Him as my Savior and follow Him as Lord, from this day on. Thank you for loving me so much that you provided a way for me to know You here on earth, and spend eternity with You in Heaven. Guide my life and help me to do your will. I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen."
